Community Service

Community Service is defined as identifying a social issue in the community. This requires students to look beyond themselves and reach out to an issue faced by our society (i.e. poverty, abuse, elderly citizen rights). These hours will meet the requirements for the Florida Academic Scholars, Florida Medallion Scholars and Gold Seal Vocational scholarships. The completed hours will be recorded on the transcript of the student.

 In order to complete community service hours students must complete the Community Service application (below) and obtain approved from their counselor. Steps to receive Community Service hours are as follows:

 1.Before you complete community service hours, you must complete a community service plan, which outlines specific details of the activity and how your service will help address the community’s needs. Your counselor must sign this first part of the form.

2.Once approved, complete your hours and log them on the Community Service Log provided in the packet.

3.Write a post-essay and turn the entire packet into your counselor. The post essay must touch on how your services benefited the community and how you have grown as a result of the service.

4.Your counselor will input your hours.
