Naval JROTC Program

The NJROTC program was established by Public Law in 1964 which may be found in Title 10, US Code, Chapter 102.  The program is conducted at accredited secondary schools throughout the nation , and taught by instructions who are retired Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel.  Students who participate in NJROTC are not required to join the military after high school, and the program is not a military preparation class; the mission is to prepare students to become better citizens.  The NJROTC accredited curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, maritime navigation and meterology.  Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by drill and physical fitness training dyas, visits to naval or other government activities and community service.  Cadets can also participate in orientating and marksmanship competitions and JROTC field meets that are comprised of academic, athletic, drill and color guard events.
