According to Florida Statute, Chapter 1006.42:

"Each parent of a student is liable for any loss or destruction of, or unnecessary damage to, the instructional materials or for failure of the student to return the instructional materials, and shall pay for such loss, destruction, or unnecessary damage as provided by law."

"The failure to collect such sum by the principal may result in the suspension of the student from participation in extracurricular activities."

Circulation of Textbooks

  • All books will be bar coded at Cypress Creek High School using the management software Destiny. Destiny has been implemented throughout Orange County Public Schools and tracks students’ textbook information.
  • Textbooks are issued to students using only a Cypress Creek ID card.
  • At the end of the semester or year, each textbook will be scanned in Destiny. The student’s name must coincide with the scanned barcode.
  • Students that withdraw from school early will return their books to the Media Center.
  • Destiny will supply the obligation list at the end of the fiscal school year.
  • Students who have misplaced their textbook may check their accounts on destiny.ocps.net to see if it has been returned.
  • Students are responsible for all textbooks issued under their name.

Fines

  • The Cypress Creek barcode on the front of the textbook is unique and it must be recognizable at the time of return. IF NO BARCODE IS VISIBLE, the student will be obligated for the replacement value of the textbook.
  • Students must report situations dealing with lost textbooks within 48 hours to a School Administrator and will be required to complete a written statement.
