International Baccalaureate

CrestIB Crest

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Programme at Cypress Creek High School is more than its educational programs and certificates. At our heart, we are motivated by a mission to create a better world through education.

We value our hard earned reputation for quality, for high standards and for pedagogical leadership. We achieve our goals by working with partners and by actively involving our stakeholders, particularly teachers.

We promote intercultural understanding and respect, not as an alternative to a sense of cultural and national identity, but as an essential part of life in the 21st century. The IB Learner Profile highlights the traits of such learners.

Cypress Creek High School’s preparation for the IB program [CCHS Pre-IB] occurs during the freshman and sophomore years. The Diploma Program (DP) curriculum undertaken during the junior and senior year is made up of six subject groups and the DP core.

IB Program

Group 1: Studies in Language & Literature

Group 2: Language Acquisition

Group 3: Individuals & Societies

Group 4: Experimental Sciences

Group 5: Mathematics

Group 6: The Arts & Electives

The DP Core: CAS (Creativity/Activity/Service); TOK (Theory of Knowledge) & EE (Extended Essay)

Through the DP core, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research and undertake a project that often involves community service.

Completion of the IB course sequence replaces all graduation requirements in Florida. A program change requires that a student return to the home high school zone and meet standard Florida Graduation requirements. A Conference with the IB Counselor and the IB Coordinator is required prior to any program change.
